FURNITURE MAINTERNANCE

Other Furniture® produces furnishings that boasts of natural beauty and sophistication. If proper maintenance is observed, our furniture can last generations. Although our products’ finishing protects the raw material from water spills and natural stains, it is not totally resistant if not cared for properly. To help you maintain the beauty of our furniture, here are some tips you can apply based on the material:

SOLID WOOD

To keep furniture made from solid wood intact over the years, keep in mind the following tips.

Clean the surface with a wet cloth regularly. Rub it in the direction of the grain.

Use a wood polisher (that doesn’t contain silicon) every six months on the wooden surface to keep the finish polished. However, if you want to achieve a more natural look, you can skip the polishing as the wood will create its own patina characteristics.

Avoid placing your furniture under direct sunlight, air conditioner or heater. This can cause small cracks to appear or the finishing to fade.

Use pads, cloths or felt to protect your furniture surface from severe damages. Materials such as plastic or rubber, hot dishes or beverages, bookend, flowerpots, etc. may contain chemicals that could potentially harm your furniture.

Touch up cracks, small stains, and uneven wood with brush and paint. You may also use a wood stain liquid matching finish for better effect.

MARBLE AND STONE

Our marble and stone products may be protected by a sealant finish, but, nonetheless, it is still recommended to be generally careful with natural materials. You may make use of the following tips.

Avoid leaving stains, especially that of wine, coffee, vinegar, citrus or chili sauce, on the furniture’s surface overnight.

Use a non-abrasive detergent to remove stains. You may also use marble stain remover or poultice powder as an alternative.

Do not place hot dishes or sharp objects directly on top of your marble furniture. Use coasters and trays instead.

GENUINE LEATHER

All our products use Peretti®, one of the best quality genuine leather in Italy. To keep it safe, take note of the following tips.

Wipe the leather furniture regularly with a clean, dry cloth. Never use a wet cloth as it is not desirable to let water soak into leather.

Clean any spill that may appear immediately with a dry cloth or sponge. To remove stubborn stains, use a leather cleaner. Never use detergents, solvents or bleach to remove stains.

Avoid placing your leather furniture close to your air-conditioner or heater. Direct sun exposure is also discouraged.

FABRICS

All fabrics used in our furniture are suitable for upholstery and have passed the Martindale abrasion test as per international standards. Maintaining fabrics is relatively simple. Just make sure to do this tip.

In case of staining, use any detergent suited for fabric cleaning.

METALS

We mostly use stainless steel, powder coated metal or brass in our collections. Here are some tips to maintain your metal furniture.

Use any detergent and wet cloth to clean metal finishes.

Apply metal polisher to maintain the furniture’s shine

OUTDOOR

Our outdoor furniture is mostly manufactured using the following materials: solid teak wood, synthetic rattan, stainless steel and outdoor fabrics. To maintain these materials, keep these tips in mind.

Keep outdoor cushions inside if not in use.

To maintain the natural color of materials, apply teak oil or teak wax every 6-12 months as teak may get grey patina due to exposure outside.
